Prof. Ada JUNI Menakaya

Professor Ada JUNI Menakaya serves in the Global Education portfolio of the Umunya Professionals Association, bringing her extensive international experience in education, gender advocacy, and UN affairs to advance Umunya's educational development agenda. Prof. Menakaya is a globally recognised figure in the field of gender equality and international development. She has represented Nigeria and African civil society at numerous United Nations forums, including the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW), and has been instrumental in connecting grassroots community organisations — including UPA — with the international development agenda. In her role leading UPA's Global Education portfolio, she oversees initiatives aimed at improving educational outcomes in Umunya, forging partnerships with universities and educational institutions, supporting scholarship programmes for Umunya students, and advocating for digital inclusion and STEM education in the community. She is the primary architect of UPA's alignment with the UN Pact for the Future of Umunya. Prof. Menakaya holds advanced degrees in education and international relations and has worked with leading international organisations throughout her distinguished career. She is a passionate advocate for the transformative power of education and believes that investing in Umunya's young people is the surest path to the community's long-term prosperity.
