Obi of Onitsha Visits UPA Chairman and Members Igwe Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha and one of the most senior traditional rulers in Anambra State, paid a courtesy visit to the Umunya Professionals Association Chairman, Prof. Ejiofor Okechukwu, and members of the association. The visit was seen as a powerful statement of royal recognition and support for UPA's mission. A Meeting of Purpose The meeting brought together UPA leaders and the Obi's delegation for substantive discussions on community development, the role of professional associations in driving grassroots progress, and the vision for Anambra State as a model of sustainable development. The Obi spoke warmly about the importance of Igbo professionals maintaining strong connections to their home communities and using their skills and resources for community upliftment. Prof. Okechukwu presented the association's development portfolio — including the Umunya Summit of Tomorrow, the Pact for the Future of Umunya, ongoing medical outreach and scholarship programmes, and infrastructure advocacy efforts. The Obi was visibly impressed and commended the association for the seriousness and comprehensiveness of its approach. The Obi's Message "What you are doing in Umunya is what every community in Igboland needs to do for itself. The government cannot do everything. It is the sons and daughters of each community who must take ownership of their development. UPA is showing us what is possible when professionals organise themselves with discipline and purpose," the Obi told the gathering. He offered his royal blessing to the association and its work.
