Dr. Ifeoma Okonkwo

Dr. Ifeoma Okonkwo serves as Director of Health Initiatives for the Umunya Professionals Association, leading the organisation's efforts to improve healthcare access and health outcomes in Umunya. A medical doctor with specialisations in public health and community medicine, Dr. Okonkwo has worked across Nigeria and internationally, bringing a wealth of clinical and public health expertise to her role. She is the driving force behind UPA's medical outreach programmes, which have provided free consultations, screenings, and medications to hundreds of Umunya residents who would otherwise struggle to access healthcare. Under her leadership, UPA has conducted multiple medical outreach camps in Umunya, partnering with hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, and health NGOs to deliver services including blood pressure screening, diabetes testing, eye care, and maternal health support. She is also developing a longer-term healthcare strategy for the community that includes plans for a primary health care facility and a telemedicine programme connecting Umunya patients with specialist doctors in the diaspora. Dr. Okonkwo is passionate about health equity and believes that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right, not a privilege. Her work with UPA represents the best of what the professional diaspora can offer to the Umunya homeland.
