Infrastructure Advocacy & Community Projects The physical infrastructure of Umunya — its roads, bridges, drainage systems, schools, health facilities, water supply, and electricity — is the foundation on which community life is built. The UPA Infrastructure Advocacy and Community Projects initiative is dedicated to improving this foundation through sustained advocacy, community mobilisation, and direct project delivery. Advocacy with Government UPA maintains active engagement with the Anambra State Government, the Oyi Local Government Authority, federal agencies, and elected representatives from Umunya. The association presents detailed, evidence-based cases for infrastructure investment — drawing on its Community Infrastructure Audit which documents the state of roads, drainage, water supply, public buildings, and utilities across Umunya. Diaspora-Funded Community Projects Recent and ongoing projects include: road rehabilitation on key routes; borehole and water supply projects; renovation and furnishing of classrooms and school laboratories; construction of drainage channels; installation of solar-powered street lighting; and rehabilitation of the Umunya civic centre. The Model: Complementing Government UPA does not seek to substitute for government, but to complement government efforts and demonstrate what is possible when a community speaks with one voice and acts with shared purpose.
