UPA Medical Outreach Programme Access to quality healthcare is a fundamental human right, yet for many residents of Umunya and surrounding communities, that right remains out of reach. The UPA Medical Outreach Programme is a direct response to this challenge — bringing healthcare to the people. What We Do The programme organises regular free healthcare camps in Umunya, typically held at community centres, schools, and public open spaces. Volunteer medical professionals from the UPA membership provide services including: general medical consultations; blood pressure and cardiovascular screening; diabetes testing; eye examinations and free reading glasses distribution; malaria testing and treatment; maternal and child health consultations; basic dental checkups; and free dispensing of essential medicines. Beyond Treatment The outreach camps incorporate health awareness sessions on hypertension management, nutrition and diabetes prevention, hygiene and sanitation, maternal health, and family planning. A Long-Term Vision The Medical Outreach Programme is a stepping stone toward UPA's longer-term health goals — including a well-equipped primary health care facility and a telemedicine service connecting Umunya patients with specialist doctors in the diaspora.
