Youth Empowerment & Vocational Training Initiative Umunya's greatest asset is its young people. The UPA Youth Empowerment and Vocational Training Initiative ensures this generation emerges equipped not merely with certificates, but with real skills, entrepreneurial thinking, and the confidence to create their own futures. What the Initiative Offers Digital Literacy and Technology Training: Basic and advanced digital literacy courses covering computer use, internet skills, mobile money, and social media for business. Intermediate courses in coding, graphic design, and digital marketing are also available. Vocational Trades Training: Practical skills in tailoring and fashion design, catering and hospitality, cosmetology, welding and fabrication, electrical installation, and plumbing. Entrepreneurship Development: A structured programme covering business planning, market research, financial management, access to microfinance, and digital marketing. Leadership and Professional Skills: Communication, public speaking, critical thinking, teamwork, and professional conduct — delivered through interactive workshops and community service projects. The Awards Night Each year, UPA celebrates its youth programme graduates at the Annual Awards Night — a formal ceremony recognising the achievements of scholars, apprentices, and young entrepreneurs from Umunya.
