UPA Annual General Meeting Charts Course for the Year Ahead The Umunya Professionals Association held its Annual General Meeting, bringing together members from across Nigeria and the diaspora in a hybrid format — participants joining in person in Awka and via video conference from the United States, United Kingdom, and other diaspora locations. Review of the Past Year Highlights of the year included: the successful Umunya Summit of Tomorrow and adoption of the Pact for the Future of Umunya; completion of two medical outreach camps serving over 400 community members; the launch of the Scholarship and Education Fund with the first cohort of recipients; progress on road rehabilitation advocacy with the Anambra State Government; and a significant increase in membership, with over 50 new members joining from across the globe. Elections The incumbent leadership was returned to office for a further term. Prof. Ejiofor Okechukwu continues as Chairman, Hon. Chris Nonyelu as Secretary General, and Samuel Udeozo as 1st Vice Chairman. The Year Ahead The meeting approved an ambitious programme including: the third Umunya Summit of Tomorrow; a major cultural festival; two further medical outreach camps; expansion of the scholarship programme to double the number of recipients; commencement of UPA's first directly funded infrastructure project; and the launch of a youth entrepreneurship programme.
